Install XMMS by running the following commands:
./configure --prefix=/usr &&
make
Now, as the root user:
make install
When you start xmms for the first time, you can configure it with CTRL+P. Note that you can extend XMMS' functionality with plugins and skins. You can find these at http://xmms.org.
